Week 2.2
For homework we continued the exercises combining random words with our theme to generate original concepts- some of the more successful of these are shown below. In class on Thursday we had a one on one with a teacher then continued conceptualising rough sketches in our workbooks. My feedback on my work was relatively positive, it seems my ideas are on the right track and I just need to continue developing these ideas into refined concepts that are presentable for the formative assessment next Monday.
I also did some research on some general statistics after class, and began doing some rough designs around this, although a lot of these did convey their point relatively successfully, I personally found them quite boring and not as eye-catching and interesting as my previous concepts generated through using random words. I will develop a few of these further however I'm thinking that perhaps I should look at combining these with my other concepts to create a more in-depth design? I will continue to experiment with this in the next week or so.
-NZ place 9th in 2016 for the global gender gap.
-NZ women were allowed to vote in 1893.
-Currently in NZ there is only a 31% representation of women in parliament.
-In NZ in 2014 the gender pay gap was calculated at 9.9%.
-Women in NZ make up 60% of tertiary graduates.
